Jim returned to Boston where his knowledge and professionalism took him from general assignment reporter to anchor of weekend and early morning newscasts, and co-anchor of midday newscasts with Susan Wornick, and finally as a Special Correspondent
Reporter and anchor for WCVB-TV for 36 years, Jim is a model for hard work, dedication, patience, and community service. He began his career in public television –in the mailroom — at WNET-TV, New York in 1961, then moved on to public affairs and production roles there. After a year on the production staff of WGBH-TV’s “Say Brother” Jim returned to WNET-TV as associate producer and then producer of the Emmy Award-winning news analysis program “News in Perspective.” Then, with the launch of WCVB-TV in 1972, Jim returned to Boston where his knowledge and professionalism took him from general assignment reporter to anchor of weekend and early morning newscasts, and co-anchor of midday newscasts with Susan Wornick, and finally as a Special Correspondent.
Retired from broadcasting, Jim is now in the process of finishing his college degree in Sociology at Tufts University. Over the years, he has held positions on the boards of AFTRA, Youth Enrichment Services, Roxbury YMCA, and the Massachusetts Chapter of the Huntington’s disease Society of America, and volunteered with school groups, youth organizations and charitable agencies. He has also has coached youth softball, track, basketball and soccer in Needham.
