An accomplished and respected journalist, Radio/TV broadcaster, and marketing communications consultant, Joe began his career as a correspondent for The Boston Post while a student at Boston College, subsequently working for United Press. In 1955, he began a 31-year career in broadcasting as a writer/editor for NBC’s original “Today,” show with Dave Garroway and later as a Business News Editor at NBC. He returned to Boston in 1961 as Media/PR Director at WBZ-TV. In 1971, he joined the new WCVB-TV, helping build the station’s news and editorial operations. He established his own PR/Marketing firm in 1977, where, in addition to serving several national corporate clients, he handled special events for the JFK Library Dedication and Sen. Edward Kennedy’s Presidential campaign announcement. In 1986, he and his family built owner-operated WFCC-FM a 50,000-watt classical music station on Cape Cod, hiring news people Jack Hynes, Bill O’Connell, and Bob Copeland to provide a credible news backbone for the music station. In 1992, WFCC-FM was named “Radio Station of the Year” by the Mass. Broadcasters Association (MBA). Far from retiring, in 2006 Joe started a new career as a Memoir Writer-Editor, and he is working on his fourth book.
