Three time Emmy Award-winner Sara Edwards is best known locally for her work with Barry Nolan as co-host of Evening Magazine on WBZ-TV, Boston’s Channel 4, from 1981 to 1990. She then joined cross-town WHDH-TV, Channel 7, as an entertainment reporter from 1991 to 2003. While based there she also served as a film critic and entertainment reporter for NBC News serving that network’s affiliates across the United States. The last four years of her career in Boston reunited her with Barry Nolan on the Comcast Network entertainment show “Backstage with Barry Nolan.’
Since leaving Boston and returning to her hometown San Marino, CA, she has worked as a freelance reporter, producer, blogger and the owner of Sara Edwards Media.
Edwards graduated from UCLA where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. She started her television career as a reporter for KLAS-TV in Las Vegas. After a television reporting job in Houston, and a one-year stint hosting the syndicated entertainment show “World of People” from 1980 to 1981, Edwards relocated to Boston, where she teamed with Barry Nolan as co-host of Evening Magazine on WBZ-TV for nine years. She then joined WHDH-TV as an entertainment reporter for 12 years and while based there served as film critic and entertainment reporter for the NBC News Channel serving that network’s 200-plus affiliates across the United States.
Edwards earned two New England Emmy Awards for her producing and reporting work on “Backstage” and one Mid -Atlantic Emmy for her work on the Comcast Network. She has also won three Telly Awards, a national video and television award given by industry professionals, and a New England Cable Television Award for excellence in programming. Edwards holds three honorary degrees from universities in the Boston area.
